Making A King Sized Bed With 2 Twin Mattresses
One of the many perks of the twin mattress is that you can combine 2 of these sleek beds to create one much bigger bed for extra enjoyment. Many people who own more than one twin bed are suddenly no longer in the need of the additional mattresses and might need to either consolidate the bed by throwing it out to make room for something else. This is a common theme in many households when children or other family members move out, or even when their own children are simply growing up and their newly bigger bodies are in dire need of a bigger sleeping arrangement. Fortunately there is a much better solution than tossing out a perfectly good single mattress in order to pay big bucks for a new one. Although many people are totally unaware, one of the most viable ideas to upgrade your bed setting from a twin to something larger is to combine 2 of your twin mattresses into one full size King bed.
Follow the instructions below to perform this awesome technique and reap in the benefits of your new, fully sized bed.
First of all you will need some supplies before we begin, but don’t be daunted by this list as it only requires many simple items, many of which can be found in your household without much of a search. To make your new bed you will need a drill with drill bits, approximately 4 nuts and bolts, some cam straps, a King-size mattress topper and a King-size mattress pad and some standard duct tape. That’s it! Okay, now we’re ready to begin the process.
To begin you must first place your two mattresses together and get them as close together as you possibly can. This is to ensure that the surface area is flat so there won’t be any noticeable cracks in the bed which can result in less than satisfactory comfort levels. Once you have them as close together as possible, you should have two legs of the beds next to each other. Then you must wrap your tape around the legs to get them stuck together so you can begin drilling holes in them. After the legs are attached, you must drill 4 holes total, 2 in each leg. One hoe should be at the top and one at the bottom.
The next step is to obviously take the duct tape off of the legs and place a bolt through each of the holes. Once this is done you need to tighten up the bolts with a nut placed at the end of the bolt. This will ensure that you have a story dead set, capable of handling extreme weight without falling apart. After the legs have been bolted into place and tightened properly you will now need to tighten the mattress with the use of the cam straps. First, measure the diameter of your mats as they are held together. Then you must tie the straps around the outside of the mattresses and begin the tightening process. Don’t overdo it though as you might damage the sides of your beds.
Now it’s time to begin making your two beds into one with the use of your bed bridge. The bed bridge is what will fill the gap between the two beds and make you forget the fact that you’re sleeping in 2 twin mattresses. You must place the bridge in the middle where the mattresses are touching each other; this will fill up the crevice which has been created by the beds.
Now you’re nearly done! Since the bed has been made completely you must now pretty it up to erase all the last memories of your 2 single beds which are now joined as one. Place your mattress topper on the top of the beds and place the mattress pad on top of the topper to hold it firmly in place. And of course once you’re at this step you must ad your favorite bedding and sheets.
And there you have it! If you follow these instructions perfectly, you will now have a brand new King-size bed set by using two twin mattresses.
